The Office of International Programs and Services at the University of Alabama in
Huntsville hosted 20 undergraduate student leaders from the People's Republic of
China for a "Study of the U.S. Institute" in the summer of 2008. As part of the Institute,
the Alabama Hispanic Association President, Ms. Hilda Eisler, was invited to present
a picture presentation of the Hispanic community in the United States. The presentation
took place at the National Child Advocacy Center in Huntsville. During their visit,
Institute students attended academic seminars, developed research projects, and participated
in cultural activities and service learning projects that provide insight into American
life. The Study of the U.S. Institute was sponsored by the Department of State's
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and the Academy for Educational
Development (AED).
